* Abraham Lincoln's starts journey
This was the day Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. It can be interesting to read what others were reading when something exceedingly historic was in the process of happening.
And this issue has a neat item relating to Gettysburg, with a ftpg. subhead: "The Ceremonies At Gettysburg" listing the various dignitaries who will be present for the dedication of the cemetery there, closing with: "...accompany the Secretary of State, Mr. Seward to Gettysburg today. This party also accompanied President Lincoln and his private secretary, Mr. Nicolay and several numbers of the Cabinet & others, who were in the special train which left here at noon." Intriguing to note this very inconspicuous item which could very easily have been left out of the newspaper, yet figures into one of the most notable events of the entire Civil War.
The balance of the ftpg. has various reports concerning the Civil War a short item "From Washington" which tells of: "A Slander on Mr. Lincoln Refuted" plus European news as well.
Eight pages, very nice condition.
