From colonial Providence...

Item # 662861

February 22, 1772

THE PROVIDENCE GAZETTE; AND COUNTRY JOURNAL, Rhode Island, Feb. 22, 1772

* Rare Colonial Rhode Island

The handsome masthead features an intricate engraving of the Royal cost-of-arms.
Varied content within, including a report noting: "...been problematical whether tea drinking out to be encouraged among us...". A report from Williamsburg mentions creating a canal between the James and York Rivers. Another item reports the captures of ships. Other events of the period.
Four pages, wide, never-trimmed margins, mouse-chewing to a lower corner does not affect any mentioned reports, otherwise nice condition.

Item from Catalog 290 (released for January, 2020)...
