Technically Alexandria was a Confederate city for one day, as the day after Virginia voted to secede from the Union federal troops moved in this city neighboring the nation's capital and occupied it.
The front page begins with: "Death of Gen. 'Stonewall' Jackson" which is provided by two dispatches, each signed in type: R. E. Lee. Jackson was accidentally killed by friendly fire.
War news on pages 2 and 3, plus page 4 has: "The Attack on Charleston" "The Negro Troops" and "Regiment of Negroes" among other items.
Four pages, 9 by 12 1/2 inches, very nice condition.
