June 24, 1848

NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., June 24, 1848

* Mexican-American War ends
* General William Orlando Butler
* Treaty of Peace ratification

The top of the first column of the front page has the heading every collector wants from this period: "The Mexican War Ended ! " with related text taking the entire column. Also on the front page is: "Exchange of the Ratifications of the Treaty of Peace With Mexico" with the detailed text taking 2 1/2 columns. This is followed by: "The Army Returning Home".
Not only great to have this historic content on the front page, but having it in this newspaper from the nation's capital, as the "National Intelligencer" served as the mouthpiece of the federal government.
Four pages, very nice condition.
