SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, California, May 3, 1939
* Lou Gehrig's games played streak ends (1st report)
* New York Yankees - Major league baseball
The top of the sports page has a banner headline: "Lou Gehrig Benches Self After 2130 Games!" There are two related articles, one with a photo of 'Lou Gehrig" which includes: "...we note Henry Louis Gehrig, stolid iron man of the New York Yankees, benched himself yesterday at Detroit at his own request, thus ending the only untouchable record in baseball..." with much more.
Complete in 26 pages, light toning, small binding holes along the spine, small address label on the front page, a few archival mends near margins, generally very nice.
