An overly optimistic spin on the stock market crash...

Item # 661819

October 31, 1929

CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, Oct. 31, 1929

* Stock market crash of 1929
* Wall Street, New York City

One of the front page headlines offers an unfortunately reassuring report from the week of the infamous 1929 stock market crash: "Market Scare Over; Stocks Rebound" with two subheads: "Rush To Buy At Low Prices Taxes Brokers" "Exchanges to Take Two Day Rest". The report carries over to the financial page.
As history would prove, the market slump did not end there. The market would reach its low point in 1933, and recovery would not be seen until the end of the 1930's & the beginning of World War II.
Complete in 36 pages, in great condition. This is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings.
