December 14, 1886

NEW YORK SEMI-WEEKLY TRIBUNE, Dec. 14, 1886  A very notable labor union issue as page 10 begins with a report on the founding of the American Federation of Labor with Samuel Gompers elected as its first president.
The report and related articles take over a full column and have a Columbus, Ohio, dateline, where the AFL was created. It would combine with the Congress of Industrial Organizations to created the largest federal of unions, the AFL-CIO.
Sixteen pages, browned and very fragile with various margin tears. Must be handled carefully.
