THE NEW YORK TIMES, a complete set of all 8 games of the infamous 1919 Major League Baseball World Series between the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds, to become known as the "Black Sox" series due to the alleged corruption of the White Sox team to throw the series.
This set has dates October 2 through 10, a consecutive run of nine issues.
October 2: ftpg. column heads: "Reds Route White Sox In Opening Game of Series" with many subheads. Text carries over to pages 13 & 14 which have banner headlines and additional coverage.
October 3: ftpg. column heads: "White Sox Again Defeated by Reds" with subheads. Text carries over to pages 11 & 12 with banner headlines & additional coverage.
October 4: ftpg. column heads: "Reds Lose Third Game To Chicago" with several subheads. Text carries over to pg. 12 with banner headline & additional coverage.

October 8: ftpg. column head: "White Sox Rally And Defeat Reds" with several subheads. Text carries over to pgs. 15 & 16 which have banner headlines & additional coverage. Curiously pg. 15 has an article: "Lose $60,000 On Game" "Big Sum Wagered by Cincinnati Business Men on Reds to Win." (see).
October 9: ftpg. column heads: "White Sox Again Beat Cincinnati; Score Is 4 to 1" with several subheads. Coverage carries over to pgs. 11 & 12 which have banner headlines and additional coverage.
October 10: ftpg. column heads on the final game: "Reds Defeat Sox In Eighth Game And Win Series" with several subheads. Coverage carries over to pages 14 & 15 which have banner headlines and much additional coverage.

A terrific opportunity for not just the final game, but detailed coverage of the entire 1919 World Series.
The set of  nine issues are still bound together, disbound from a volume, with some irregularity at the spine. Pages are generally very nice & clean condition. A beautiful set.
