THE LIBERATOR, Boston, Sept. 8, 1865 This is the famous anti-slavery newspaper by famed abolitionist publisher William Lloyd Garrison. The masthead features two engravings, one of a slave auction and the other showing slaves being emancipated.
Nearly half of the front page is taken up with: "The Andersonville Prison-Keeper" beginning: "The trial of Capt. Wirz, the keeper of the prison pen at Andersonville, Georgia, was commenced at Washington..." with much reporting.
Also on the ftp: "Another Evidence of Rebel Cruelty "Horrible Inhumanity to a Free Negro of Tennessee--He is sold into Slavery Against his Will--The price he Paid for his Attempt to Escape--A Rebel Surgeon Cuts off Both his Feet".
Inside pages include: "New Method of Emancipating Slaves" "The Freedmen in the Dept of the South" "Cox On Separation of Races" "State Convention of Colored Men in Tennessee" "Reception of the 54th Regiment" "The Barbarism of Slavery" and much more.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, various archival mends near folds inside, nice condition.
