THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, Nov. 1, 1777  A great wealth of American content in this issue. The front page has a report beginning: "A state of contention between Great Britain & America is indeed deeply to be deplored & strikes every considerate mind with horror..." with much more.
Also war reports with bits including: "The situation Gen. Washington has taken is on the North side of Brandy Vine [Brandywine] river...He occupies two exceedingly high hills...General Howe must force him from this post if he means to go to Philadelphia...that Gen. Burgoyne had met with a; check, and that he was retreating to Canada...If Gen. Burgoyne had succeeded against Gen. Arnold he would not have found his difficulties over..." and more.
Page 3 has a notable report mentioning the defeat of Burgoyne at Saratoga: "...bring advice of an engagement between General Burgoyne and General Arnold in which he former was defeated with considerable loss. The battle began at twelve o'clock at noon & lasted till eight at night when General Burgoyne retreated with the loss of 970 men..." with more fine content concerning Burgoyne and the events around Lake Champlain (see photos).
The back page contains several more reports concerning General Burgoyne and others.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, minor spine wear, very nice condition.
