THE AMERICAN JOURNAL & GENERAL ADVERTISER, Providence, Rhode Island, Sept. 23, 1779 A truly rare title from the Revolutionary War, as it lasted for less than 1 1/2 years from March, 1779 to August, 1781.
Page 2 has the "Return of prisoners taken at Powles Hook. Also a report from Fishkill which has: "...We hear he was to meet his Excellency General Washington at the landing, to dine at New Windsor, from thence to take boat & view the army and works at West Point..." with more. Also from Rhode Island: "An Act to Prevent non-commissioned Officers & soldiers...from Being Carried Off in any Vessel by Sea."
Page 3 has: "By a new treaty between Dr. Franklin and the French Ministry, the latter are to assist the American with 10,000 men, on case Great Britain takes 20,000 Hanoverans or Russians into pay for the American War...".
The back page has a letter from an officer at the Highlands beginning: "The enemy have received their reinforcement from England...from the best intelligence it is rather short of 3000 men who are very sickly..." with more (see).
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, wide margins, very nice condition.
