THE CONNECTICUT COURANT & WEEKLY INTELLIGENCER, Hartford, Sept. 18, 1781 Page 2 has a letter from General Greene to Congress dated at Santee, S.C. mentioning the efforts of General Sumpter: "...Col. Wade Hampton made a charge on a part of the enemy's horse at the Quarter House...Col. Hampton...burnt four vessels loaded principally with valuable stores for the use of the British army. General Sumpter when he got in the neighbourhood of Monk's Corner..." and more on events in that theatre of the war.
Then a letter from General Marion to Governor Rutledge with some military details. Then a "...letter from His Excellency General Washington to the President of Congress...", introducing a letter from General Gist announcing the arrival in the Chesapeake of Admiral deGrasse with 28 ships.
Page 2 concludes with war reports from Fishkill and Albany.
Page 3 has most of a column taken up with the military events at Groton, Fort Trumbull and Fort Griswold in Connecticut and the destruction done: "...The troops were commanded by that infamous traitor to his country Benedict Arnold, who headed the division which marched to this town...".
Four pages, ornate lettering in the masthead, a bit of foxing, nice condition.
