THE CONNECTICUT COURANT & WEEKLY INTELLIGENCER, Hartford, Sept. 4, 1781

Page 2 begins with a report from Annapolis which foreshadows the coming events at Yorktown: "The apprehensions of an invasion are at present dissipated; the fleet, supposed to be destined for Baltimore or  this city, has entered York river; the troops have landed at Gloucester and York, and are fortifying..." with more. Then a letter from a person with the Marquis de la Fayette beginning: "Maryland is relieved by the enemy's establishing themselves in York river...Under these circumstances your military preparations are as necessary as ever...".
Further on: "The recent movements of Earl Cornwallis..." with more on this, followed by a letter from Hampton, Virginia: "I make no doubt but you have been fully informed of Lord Cornwallis's movements about Virginia. When he left Williamsburg he crossed James River with his army...went to Portsmouth, doing very little injury...and proceeded to York-Town and Gloucester where they remain..." with more
Page 3 continues with additional war-related content (see photos).
Four pages, ornate lettering in the masthead, a bit of foxing and some staining, nice condition.
