This 100+ page newspaper has various baseball reports in the sport's section with a two headline on the front page of the sport's section (inside): "Pirates Overcome Reds, 12 to 4; Friend Victor Despite 4 Balks" First report coverage on the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds in which Pete Rose made his very first MLB hit with text:"...a triple by Pete Rose, the rookie second baseman of the Reds..." (see)

wikipedia notes: Rose made the club, and made his major league debut on April 8, 1963 (Opening Day) against the Pittsburgh Pirates and drew a walk. After going 0-for-11, Rose got his first Major League hit on April 13, a triple off Pittsburgh's Bob Friend. He hit .273 for the year and won the National League Rookie of the Year Award, collecting 17 of 20 votes.
