September 17, 1847

DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Sept. 17, 1847

* Final events of the Mexican War
* Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna manifesto

A great issue reporting on the ending events of the Mexican War. These reports are from General Scott's advance upon Mexico City.
Page 2 begins: "THE LATE VICTORIES IN MEXICO" "Further Particulars, Incidents" with a wealth of fine reporting. Also: "The Mexican Rout--Account by the Mexican Themselves"
Included as well is the; "Manifesto of Santa Anna". This is a great acceptance of his dire situation, one item noting: "...I have labored for the defence of the capital, which was about to be surrendered, defenceless, to the enemy...I have fortified various lines in order to keep at a distance from Mexico the ravages of war..." with much more, signed in type at Mexico City, August 23: Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna.
A great wealth of other fine reporting on the war, too much to mention here.
Four pages, very nice condition.
