GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, February, 1800 Near the back is news headed: "American News" which reports: "...the city of Philadelphia was alarmed by the cry of fire. It proceeded from Rickett's Circus, which in a few minutes after the discovery was enveloped in flames..." and more (see).
Rickett's Circus was the first circus in the United States, established in 1793.
All 2 of the 3 plates called for are present.
Complete in 96 pages, 5 by 8 1/2 inches, some lite scattered foxing, otherwise in very good condition.
