Page 3 has: "The State Of Deseret" which is a fine report on the situation of the Mormons at the Great Salt Lake, and very descriptive of the vicinity. It begins: "Five miles from the foot of the mountain lies the 'City of the Great Salt Lake, of nine months' growth...It is laid out in blocks, containing ten acres each, and each block is subdivided into eight lots...Nearly one thousand adobe houses have been built...A mile north of the city is a warm sulphur spring...The weather is delightful..." and more.
