THE WHITEHALL EVENING POST, London, Dec. 25, 1783 

* Early ballooning
* Montgolfier brothers


Page 2 has a report concerning Montgolfier being honored for his aerial accomplishments: "As a reward for their new discovery, young Mr. De Montgolfier has been by the King gratified with the insignia of the Order of St. Michal...The other aerial traveler, Major D'Orlande, was by the King himself."
Then page 4 has: "Tuesday last the inhabitants of Manchester were gratified with a sight of one of the so much famed Balloons...about 25 minutes past twelve it was let go...it did ot  remain above a minute  in sight. The balloon was taken up by a person four miles from Croniford in Derbyshire, 45 miles distant from Manchester...An Air Balloon will be let off at Newark, this day, at noon."
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, red tax stamp on the ftpg., nice condition.
