* California gold rush

Close to half of page 2 is taken up with various information concerning California, some of it political. It begins with a: "Proclamation by Gen. Riley" noting: "...that a portion of these forces should be employed in maintaining order in the gold districts...".
Page 3 has: California Items" which reports on the very high prices for items, and that: "...Buildings were springing up very rapidly, most of the cheapest character. At present one-half of the population live in tents...As a general thing property is respected, evil doers being kept in check by fear of Lynch law...".
Four pages, nice condition.
