Andrew Jackson... Nullication Proclamation...

Item # 657338

December 15, 1832

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, December 15, 1832  The key and historically significant content within this issue is the entire text of President Andrew Jackson's Nullification Proclamation, starting on page 12, and ending with his signature, Andrew Jackson on the back page.
The Nullification Proclamation disputed a state's right to nullify a federal law, an issue in South Carolina at the time which felt that recent tariff acts favored Northern manufacturing interests at the expense of Southern farmers. Also included is the lengthy address to the Legislature of South Carolina made by James Hamilton, Jr.
Sixteen pages, 10 by 6 inches, very nice condition.  Although the text in the images is a bit blurry due to the resolution of the photos, the actual text is quite crisp.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
