General Clinton offers thanks for the victory at Eutaw Springs...

Item # 657211

March 19, 1782

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, March 19, 1782

* American Revolutionary War Era
* 18th century from The Enemy

One-third of page 6 is taken up with: "America--From the New York Gazette". One of the reports notes: "...a select body of rebels consisting of about 200 form the Jersey brigade of light infantry...under the command of Major Bauman, attacked the post of the loyal refugees at Bergen..." with more on this. Also: "...we hear that the French troops at York Town, Virginia, bury about 20 of their number every day."
The bkpg. has a letter signed by Sir: H. Clinton to Lt. Col. Stewart, thanking him for his victory at the Battle of Eutaw Springs, a victory over the Americans under General Greene.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches, a few tiny holes on the front page, generally nice.
