RICHMOND WHIG AND PUBLIC ADVERTISER, Virginia, May 30, 1862

* Rebel newspaper from the Confederate capital
* Abraham Lincoln proclamation

A great wealth of Civil War reporting in this four page newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Among the many front page items are those headed: "Notes and News" which begins: "The star of the victorious Jackson is still in the ascendant. After the capture of Winchester he pressed on after the flying foe..." and more (see for portions).
Also: "Threats of the Enemy Against the Rangers" "The Southwest" "The Engagement in Hanover on Tuesday" "Capture of the Steamer Gordon" "Sickness in the Western Army" "From New Mexico" "Effect of the War Upon the Northern Politicians" "A Daring Adventure" "The Engagement at Drewry's Bluff--Official Report" and a nice item headed: "From Lincolndom" which includes "Gen. Hunter's Emancipation Order Repudiated by Lincoln" which includes the full text of his order doing so, signed by him in type: Abraham Lincoln (see).
There is more war reporting on page 2 with: "The Inevitable Battle" "Abolition Troubles" "The Enemy's Force at Corinth" "The Federal Army Near Richmond--Accounts of Yankee Correspondents" and a bit more. Page 3 has some war items with: "Affairs at Baton Rouge" and a bit more but is mostly taken up with ads.
The back page has much war reporting with: "Notes and News" "The Valley Victory" "Gen. Beauregard's Army" "Ben Wood, of New  York" "Northern Miscellany" "Scott's Louisiana Cavalry" "Gunboats vs. Land Batteries "Latest News from the Valley!" which includes a letter signed in type by: T. J. Jackson.
All four pages, loose at the spine, various tears at margin most of which have been archivally repaired, some loss at the top of the front leaf affects nothing on pg. 1 but does cause some pg. 2 loss, a few other margin irregularities.
