Nazis focus on attacks upon Catholics...

Item # 656696

November 14, 1938

CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, Nov. 14, 1938  The bold, banner headline proclaims: "CHURCH TARGET OF NAZI HATE" with column subheads: "Rowdies Knock Down Candles; Jeer Catholics" and "Whistle While 5,000 Intone a Hymn".
As opposed to the more typical coverage of anti-Jewish attacks in Germany, this report is focused on an event in Munich aimed at Catholics. The article begins: "Anti-Catholic feelings flared again today when rowdies whistled and jeered as $5,000 worshipers intoned a hymn in St. Mary's..." and further on: "...The attack followed an address by Adolf Wagner, Bavarian Nazi leader, who denounced 'Roman Catholic allies of Jews'...".
The article carries over to page 2 where also is: "Jews To Be Tried by Italy As Foes Of Rule By Duce" "Fascists Fan Support For Drive on Semites".
Complete in 28 pages, this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings. In great condition as such, 4 small binding holes at the blank spine.
