June 16, 1931

CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, June 16, 1931

* Al "Scarface" Capone - gangster - mob boss
* The beginning of the end of his criminal career
* Best title to be had - very rare as such

The front page has a five column heading: "Capone in Court Today; Plea in Doubt" with subhead: "Police Squads Will Guard Gang Leader" Related photo is on the back page. Capone would plead guilty for tax evasion on this day. When it comes to gangsters, organized crime, and the nefarious activities born out of the Prohibition and Great Depression eras, no city is more in the forefront of our minds than Chicago - and what better newspaper can be found than the Chicago Tribune, self-proclaimed to be "The World's Greatest Newspaper".
Complete with all 38 pages, rag edition, a little light staining, 4 small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.
