October 19, 1931
CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, Oct. 19, 1931
* Al 'Scarface' Capone guilty
* Infamous tax evasion conviction
* Best title to be had - very rare
The banner headline announces: "SWIFT PENALTY FOR CAPONE" with a one-column subhead; "Tax Conviction Term May Be Set Tomorrow".
Although "Scareface" Al Capone was involved in many criminal activities, it was tax evasion which ultimately put him behind bars. The article takes a full column and concludes on an inside page.
Also on the front page has: "Thomas Edison Will Be Buried At Milan, Ohio" with a large ftpg. cartoon memorial for the death of Thomas Edison.
Terrific to have this report in a Chicago newspaper.
The complete 34 page newspaper and this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings. Great condition as such, 4 small binding holes at the blank spine.
