January 21, 1682

THE TRUE PROTESTANT MERCURY, London, June 14, 1682

* Very rare title from the 17th century

A quite rare title with only 3 or 4 having come into our inventory in the last few decades. This is the last we have at the moment. This is Crane & Kaye #895, and although they list just 4 American institutions having any issues of this title, only one has this specific date we offer.
Various news reports from Europe with datelines from Paris, Hague, Cologne, Frankfort and London. One item mentions the colonies: "Letters from Virginia say that the planters in that country have been in an uproar, and in several places have destroyed one another's crops of tobacco by reason the same is scarce of any value, that through the scarcity of it may come to a better demand."
Complete as a single sheet, 7 by 11 1/2 inches, some foxing, very nice condition.
