DAILY DISPATCH, Richmond, Virginia, October 9, 1861

*  First (1st) Battle of Lexington, Kentucky

A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Among the front page reports are those headed: "Recruiting In New York" "Another Indian Fight in Texas" "The Potomac Batteries" and "Missouri & Kentucky".
Much war reporting continues on the inside pages where is found: "The Battle of Lexington--Official Report of Gen. Price" which takes over a full column and is signed in type by: Sterling Price. Other content includes: "Yankee Encampment at Chickamacomack Broken up & dispersed--Entire Camp Equipage Captured--Full Particulars" "War News & Rumors" "Late Northern News" "Confession of the Murderer of Major Lewis, of the Federal Army" "Army of The Potomac" "From Norfolk" "Never Underestimate an Enemy" "Old Scott" "From Lynchburg" and much more.
Complete in 4 pages with a banner masthead, very nice condition.
