THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 22, 1925

* John T. Scopes 'Monkey Trial'
* William Jennings Bryan
* Verdict of guilty (1st report)

The top of the front page has a three column headline: "SCOPES GUILTY, FINED $100, SCORES LAW; BENEDICTION ENDS TRIAL, APPEAL STARTS; DARROW ANSWERS NINE BRYAN QUESTIONS" with subheads. (see) First report coverage on the guilty verdict in the Scopes Monkey Trial in Dayton, Tennessee. This very famous trial involved high school science teacher, John Scopes, who was accused of violating Tennessee's Butler Act which made it unlawful to teach evolution. Lengthy text continues on page 2. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete with all 40 pages, light even toning, a little irregular along the spine, generally in very nice condition.
