General Forbes about to capture Fort DuQuesne...

THE EDINBURGH EVENING COURANT, Scotland, Jan. 16, 1759 Page 2 has some reports on the French & Indian War in America including: "...a letter from...Philadelphia...informed, that letters...from General Forbes...that he was then within 18 miles of fort du Quesne which he proposed to invest in 6 or 7 days, & made no doubt of being master of it as he had between 4 and 5000 with him..." with a bit more.
Another item includes: "...letter from Boston mentions an advantage gained by a body of our troops in Nova Scotia where major Morris & Capt. Gorham...have taken a French settlement called Capesse with 70 prisoner...General Monkton, having finished the building the new fort on St. John's river...that the provincial troops at Lake George are all disbanded..."that their destination is directly against Quebec...makes a diversion towards Crown Point..." and more.
Four pages, red tax stamp on the ftpg., 9 1/2 by 14 1/2 inches, good condition.
