Near the back is a section headed: "Advices Received from America" which includes: "Gen. Lincoln's Letter to Congress on the defeat of the combined Army before Georgia" with a dateline of Charleston, Oct. 22, 1779. This letter concerns the battle for Savannah & takes nearly a full page, signed in type: B. Lincoln, and includes mention of the death of Count Pulaski.
Also of great interest is a nice article headed: "Some Account of New Zealand. Capt. Cook in Great Danger". Included with this article is the referenced full page plate captioned: "View of an Arched Rock on the Coast of New Zealand with a place of retreat on the top of it." Rare to find this plate still with the issue, relating to Captain Cook's voyage. There is also a portion of the article headed: "Description of the Plate".
Also in the issue is an: "...account of the massacre of the English garrison of Fort Henry in 1757..." (see for portions).
Near the very back is a brief mention that: "Gen. Sullivan has sent his resignation to Congress. He had been sent in conjunction with Col. Broadstreet on an expedition against the savages, which not proving so successful as Congress had reason to expect...". Also mention of Ben Franklin.
This issue also has the other full page plate called for, captioned: "A Moving Village of the Nogayan Tartars".
Complete in 52 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, full title/index page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, nice condition.
