THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, England, July, 1773 Perhaps the most fascinating item in this issue is a nice article titled: "Description of the National History Plate" and which begins: "The animal here represented is of a new species never yet described..." and it goes on to describe in much detail what is a kangaroo, found in New South Wales, Australia. This articles takes half a column (see image).Also included is a lengthy article: "Epitome of Commodore Byron's Voyage Round the World" which takes nearly 4 pages and is very descriptive of South America (see for beginning); "History of the Island of Man", and much more. Near the back are various reports under the heading "American News" including in part: "...letter has been read in the Assembly at Boston enclosing a resolution of the Assembly of Virginia to maintain a correspondence with the sister colonies...almost unanimously approved..." and "...in confidence that they will...unite in support of the rights and liberties of the American Colonies at a time when those rights and liberties appear to be systematically invaded...".
Complete in 56 pages with a nice full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate. Measures 5 1/4 by 8 1/4 inches, very nice condition.
