June 14, 1864

RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, June 14, 1864

* General Ulysses S. Grant

A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page has: "The War News" with various reports. Also on the ftpg: "The Petersburg Militia" "General Lee's Army" "A Most Horrible Outrage by the Enemy" "The Confederate Congress" "From General Lee's Army" "From North Georgia" & even more.
The back page has an interesting editorial which begins: "Away we go into his rear! This is the pleasant part of Grant's strategy. He knows, very well knows, that the only road to Richmond lies over Lee's lines..." with much more commentary on Grant's failures (see). Also: "The News From The North" "How Lincoln Got the Nomination--Foul Play" "From Grant's Army--Reinforcements Going Forward" and much more.
Complete as a single sheet issue with a one column masthead--typical from the closing months of the Civil War as most paper mills were in the North--even toning, very nice condition.
