Kit Carson fights the Navajo Indians... Lincoln's famous rally-letter endorsed...

Item # 653127

September 4, 1863

NEW YORK TIMES, Sept. 4, 1863  Although much of the front page is taken up with various reports from the Civil War, perhaps the most interesting item is the brief page 5 item headed: "Victory of Kit Carson Over the Indians" (see photos for full report), reading in part: "...had a fight with the Navajoe Indians beyond Fort Canby. The Indians were defeated with the loss of 13 killed & over 20 wounded...".
The front page has the endorsement of President Abraham Lincoln's famous rally letter, which defended his Emancipation Proclamation, by the members of the Syracuse Convention. This letter was read at the convention held the day prior in Springfield, Missouri.
Eight pages, minimal, minor dampstaining scattered about the margin, in overall nice condition.

Item from Catalog 272 (released for July, 2018)...
