THE MIDDLESEX JOURNAL & EVENING POST, London, March 4, 1779 

* Spain recognizes American Independence
* Dr. Benjamin Franklin


Page 2 has a Paris report: "It is assured, that the marquis de la Fayette reports, that the affairs of the United States of America are in the best situation & that the most perfect accord reigns between the members of the congress and the military commanders. Dr. Franklin expresses the greatest joy at the news he has received..." with more. Then another item: "A report is current that the court of Spain has acknowledged the independency of the Thirteen United States of America...that court had sent orders...to protect their navigation & give them every kind of assistance..." and a bit more.
Page 3 has: "An American brigantine arrived here from Charles-town, South Carolina, brings advice that the division of troops of South Carolina, consisting of 3000 men, had marched from thence for general Washington's camp..." and a bit more. The bkpg. has a few items regarding the war.
Four pages, a hole near the middle of the front leaf does not affect mentioned content, otherwise nice condition.
