THE CHARLESTON MERCURY, South Carolina, Jan. 19, 1864
* From the origin of the Civil War
The front page includes: "Letter From Richmond" "Additional From the North" "An Era of Mediocrity" "Extracts from my Journal While A Prisoners in Port Royal Bay, S.C." and a column of reporting from the "Confederate Congress". The front page also has several reward ads for runaway slaves, and an illustrated recruiting ad for a mounted infantry.
Complete as a single sheet issue, an archival repair near the spine of the back page where once slit, with some remnant of where once tipped into some sort of binder, otherwise good.
