THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE London, May, 1778 (the "Blowing of the Horn" plate is not present,  but a photocopy is included for reference) Of significance is an article: "Account of the Examination of Gen. Burgoyne" concerning his actions which led to losing the Battle of Saratoga, which contains some interesting reading (see images for portions).

Although the original and highly sought after plate of the "Blowing of the Horn" at the  Synagogue at Amsterdam is not present, a photocopy of the print taken from an original is included for reference.

Complete in 44 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate.

A very nice Revolutionary War era magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content including news of the day, political reports, literary items, and other unusual tidbits. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
