This issue reports the final game of what is now known as the "Black Sox Scandal" World Series, wherein 8 Chicago players were eventually accused of intentionally losing games in exchange for money from gamblers.
The top of the sports page has a banner headline announcing: "World Title Goes To Reds In Eighth Game, A 10 to 5 Slaughter of Sox". with a banner subhead as well (see). Also on the sports page: "Four Runs In First Stop Chicago Fight To Turn Set's Tide" and other column heads also. The prime feature is the rather large team photo headed: "Cincinnati Reds, Winners Of The World's Baseball Championship".
