October 30, 1863

DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Oct. 30, 1863

* John Wilkes Booth as an actor
* Rare appearance at Ford's Theatre

A terrific issue with one of the more ironic twists of history, and only to be found in a newspaper from Washington, D.C.
Of interest to the collector is advertisement at the top of page 3 headed:  Ford's New Theatre"  and within the ad is: "Monday Evening, November 2d. First Appearance of the young and distinguished tragedian JOHN WILKES BOOTH".
Booth appeared o the stage of Ford's Theatre for two weeks, Nov. 2-15, 1863 (Abraham Lincoln attended the November 9 performance!) and would only appear one more time at Ford's Theatre, that being a single performance on March 18, 1865, less than a month before the fateful event of April 14, 1865.
Four pages, folio size, very nice condition.
