March 23, 1863

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, March 23, 1863

* Fredericksburg VA Virginia
* Rappahannock River

A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederate States of America. Among the front page items are: "From Fredericksburg", "The Fight On the Rappahannock", "Another Raid In The Enemy's Lines", "Atrocities of the Enemy", which takes over half a column; "The Situation In The West", "The Peace Party of the North...", "Dreadful Condition of Helena, Arkansas--The Yankee Soldiers Dying Off Like Sheep", & "A Northern Picture of Memphis" among other items.
The back page has a lengthy editorial which focuses on the war situation, but also has reports from the "Virginia Legislature", "The Confederate Congress", "The Courts", "City Intelligence", and other items.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead, this issue was never bound nor trimmed, and a bit of flaking at the bottom margin causes some minor text loss. Otherwise it is in nice condition.
