August 04, 1854

NEW YORK TRIBUNE, Aug. 4, 1854  Page 6 has a very nice travelogue type report headed: "The Way To California". It is datelined from San Francisco but talks about the route there, both across Panama and Nicaragua and the best route for getting to California (see).

Beginning on the last column of page 2 and finishing on page 3 is: "The Present State of Europe," which is an article written and signed in block type by KARL MARX.
Page 3 has: "Charles Dickens" which includes in part: "...venture to say a word or two with regard to those of Mr. Dickens, whose domestic life has been so ruthlessly invaded by this slander. Ever since the commencement of the Pickwick Papers, Mr. Dickens has received a large income..." with more.
Eight pages, very nice condition.
