The United States formally recognizes the State of Israel...
Item # 651826
February 1, 1949
THE DETROIT NEWS, February 1, 1949 Although the State of Israel was formally created in May, 1948, it was not formally recognized by the United States until 8 months later, the 20th country to do so (the Soviet Union [Russia] was the first).
The center column on the ftpg. is headed: "U.S. Gives Israel Full Recognition" with subhead: "Trans-Jordan Gets Similar Status". The front page also has: "U.S. Reveals Production of Super A-Bomb." This declaration provided a de facto recognition back to May 14, 1948.
A very notable report in American-Israeli relations. Complete in 26 pages, very nice condition.
