January 06, 1816

THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Jan. 6, 1816  Perhaps the best content in this issue is the very nice full page chart headed: "NAVAL BATTLES" which lists the various naval actions of the War of 1812, with columns headed "Action Between" "When" "Where fought" "Commander's Name" and several more (see). This chart includes a great wealth of content & is accompanied by an article headed: "The War on the Ocean" which takes 5 1/2 pgs. (see for portions).
Among the other reports in this issue are an article headed: "Indian Treaties, James Madison" which concerns a treaty with the Poutawatamie Indians on the River Illinois, signed in type: James Madison; over a full page on "Naval Affairs".
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, some lite scattered foxing, otherwise in good condition.

This newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
