Great foldout plate of a naval battle...

Item # 651018 GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, April, 1760  Among the articles within this issue are: "An Account of the Life of George Frederick Handel" which takes close to three pages, and concludes in the May issue. Also: "Improvements in Inland Navigation" "Of the Decline of Christianity" and more.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" containing various news reports of the day, including some news under the heading: "America" with reports from Charleston beginning: "The following account of a late attempt of the Indians to seize Fort P. George, in South Carolina, sews the wicked spirit of the Savages..." with more (see photo).
Lacking is the naval battle plate called for in this issue.
Complete in 48 pages, 5 by 8 inches, several tiny binding holes along the left spine, otherwise in very good condition. Includes the full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.

A very nice magazine of the French & Indian War period from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
