Among the front page column heads are: "SHERMAN" "The Formal Surrender of Johnston's Army on Saturday Last" "The Surrender Made to General Schofield" "Joe Johnston's Army Demoralized by the Prospect of Peace" "The Closing Scenes" "Winding Up the Rebellion at Several Points" "Flight of Rebels From Canada" The Washington Conspiracy" "Preparations for the Trial of the Assassins" and much more. Page 5 has: "The Funeral Train" "Arrival of the Remains at Chicago" "The Obsequies in That City".
Page 5 has reports on the Sultana steamboat disaster on the Mississippi (see). It was, at the time, the nation's worse maritime disaste.
Eight pages, never bound or trimmed, various small tears at margins, a few archival repairs at margins.
