HARPER'S NEW MONTHLY MAGAZINE, (New York), April, 1866  Among the interesting articles within are: "Freedman's Bureau" "The Last Year's of Sam Houston" "Birds at Home" with  many illustrations including singing honey-eater, white honey-eater, yellow-throat-ed, and more; "The Ruined House", with an illustration, "Heroic Deeds of Heroic Men - XI" has 2 Civil War prints;  "The Navy in the North Carolina Sounds" with 6 prints; "Concerning Restaurants", including menus and pricing; and much more. Included also is a poem by Herman Melville: "Philip" which relates to the Civil War.
Disbound without wrappers, 136 pages, 6 by 9 inches, scattered library stamp throughout issue, otherwise in good condition.
