September 28, 1863
BOSTON DAILY ADVERTISER,, Sept. 28, 1863 Page 2 has an extremely lengthy--taking almost 3 columns--account of the: "Battle of Chickamauga" as the text is headed at the top of the page. This notable battle was a loss to the Northern forces with a total of 34,000 casualties.
Perhaps equally as interesting are two front page items, one being an advertisement for the play "The Lady of Lyons" at the Howard Anthenaeum, noting the role of Claude Melnotte is to be played by "Mr. J. Wilkes Booth".
Additionally, under "Dramatic & Musical" on the ftpg. is a report noting in part: "Mr. Wilkes Booth will begin his engagement to night by playing Claude Melnotte, which is a favorite opening part with him...Mr. Booth's popularity is so firmly founded that Mr. Willard will undoubtedly find his house crammed nightly..." with a bit more.
Four pages, large folio size, nice condition. The folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
