NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Maryland, Oct. 31, 1818 Inside has an article: "Com. Perry and Capt. Heath" which concerns the troubles between them, and which also involved Stephen Decatur. They would have a duel, and Perry survives after Heath’s shot misses, Perry refused to shoot back. Included is a letter signed: Stephen Decatur and one: O.H. Perry.
The back page has: "The Yellowstone Expedition" being a letter dated "Belle Fontaine, Sept. 4, 1818".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 3/4 inches, in nice condition.
This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
