January 16, 1920

NEW YORK TIMES, Jan. 16, 1920

* Prohibition starts in United States (eve)
* No more beer or liquor

The front page has a column with various heads on the beginning of Prohibition: "FEDERAL STATE SET FOR DRY LAW ENTRY TOMORROW" "Forces of the Prohibition Commissioner Ready to Shut Lid Tight at Midnight" "Will Focus On Big Cities" "National Reform Associations Will Watch 'Wet' Year Out in Washington" and more.  Text takes the remainder of the column & carries over to pg. 2.  Prohibition would last for nearly 14 years before being repealed. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Complete in 28 pages, light toning at the margins, a little irregular at the spine from disbinding, generally nice.
