April 01, 1775

THE LONDON MAGAZINE, England, April, 1775  Inside has 6 pages of debate concerning the creation of what would be the Administration of Justice Act, which was one of the "Intolerable" Acts so hated by the colonists. Terrific & very lengthy, detailed reporting, too much to show here.
This is followed by the: "House of Lords Protest" to this bill, taking over a full page. It includes: "...Every American who loves his country must wish the prosperity of Great Britain, and that their union may ever subsist uninterrupted. If the parental trunk is injured, the branches must suffer with it. A subordination on the part of the colonies is essential to this union...".
Also: "An Account of the North American Indians Barbarity to their Captives, and Their Manner of Devoting Them to Death".
Near the back is a review of a new book: "American Independence, the Interest & Glory of Great Britain". The back page has great news headed: "American Affairs" concerning Maryland choosing to recommend the action of the Continental Congress in: "...forming companies to learn the art military...that every person who should refuse to contribute to the purchase of arms & ammunition...shall be deemed an enemy to America...." and that both New jersey and New Hampshire have endorsed the action of the Continental Congress (see).
Both plates called for are lacking. Complete in 56 pages, 2 unimportant leaves have margin wear, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, great condition.

Formatted very much like the Gentleman's Magazine but a much more scarce title. The title/contents page features a great engraving of the skyline of London.
