Fine coverage of Abraham Lincoln's second inauguration & inaugural address. Keep in mind that this was a racist newspaper in the North, calling itself: "An Anti-Abolition Democratic Paper For White Men" on the back page.
Understanding this, it is interesting to read the ftpg. article: "An Inauguration Scene" which begins: "A 'loyal' paper gives the following account of the drunken scene in the inauguration drama at Washington on the 4th of March...". And page 5 has the very historic report headed: "MR. LINCOLN'S INAUGURAL" "The Vice President 'Incoherent' ""A Disgraceful Scene" which has interesting reporting on the event. Also a subhead: "Mr. Lincoln's Inaugural" which includes the full text off his inaugural address including the memorable phrase: "...With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see  the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds...". Also a very nice & lengthy article o the burgeoning oil industry headed; "PETROLEUM!" "A Visit To The Oil Regions" and more (see).
Eight pages, rejoined at the spine, very nice condition.
